Bristol Sport Foundation Basketball Tournament raises community funds

Bristol Sport Foundation (BSF) Corporate Basketball Tournament saw staff from Heat Recruitment, Ernst & Young, Santander, Hydrock, Xledger, Hargreaves Lansdown and Bristol Sport Foundation go head to head on court. The annual event, held at the home of Bristol Flyers, raises money for the club’s community basketball programmes.

In what was an exciting, high-energy atmosphere, each team was coached by one of the Bristol Flyers first team players. In the closely contested fight for the trophy, Hargreaves Lansdown, coached by Flyers star Malcolm Delpeche, clinched the win from reigning champions Santander.

BSF Basketball Coach, Rodney Gear, who was umpiring the games says: “I’ve seen first-hand where this money goes and how much of an impact our basketball programmes have in the communities we deliver them to. Thank you so much to everyone who took part in this year’s tournament and for making it such a success.”

BSF Head Coach Kristoff Young has ticked off another successful fundraising event for the charity. Having started with BSF as a community coach, Kristoff is now also working as Event Co-ordinator and spearheaded the organisation of this tournament.

Ben Breeze, BSF Chief Community Officer says: “It’s wonderful to be able to put these events on again after the past couple of years. The atmosphere in the arena was incredible and everyone was laughing and smiling. Thank you to all the teams that entered and helped raise vital funds for our community basketball programmes. Thank you to Kristoff and all the BSF staff involved in making the event a success and thank you to the Bristol Flyers Team for giving up their time and facility for us to use.”

You can make a donation to the Bristol Flyers Community Department to help support the delivery of our basketball programmes across Greater Bristol. If you would like to know more about our corporate fundraising events, please contact Ben Breeze on benjamin.breeze@bristol-sport.co.uk
