Local recruitment company and valued collaborators, Heat Recruitment, made a generous donation to Bristol Sport Foundation (BSF) this week.
The company recently made a donation of digital devices to students on Bristol Bears Community Foundation‘s HITZ programme. Now Heat have kindly given nine desktop computers to help families in Bristol living in the digital divide.
The computers will be prepped for use by our partners, technology charity DigiLocal, and then distributed to local families by local charity BS3 Community Development.
Steve Preston, Managing Director at Heat, said: “It’s great to be able to support people within the community and we will continue to do so as we work with Bristol Sport Foundation. I would challenge other businesses to check if they have any unused digital devices (laptops or PC) that have maybe reached the end of their business life but would be a fantastic aid to an underprivileged child who wants to learn. I find it refreshing to know that these devices, that were just gathering dust in a storeroom, are now being put to good use. If you can help please contact either myself or Rob at BSF”
BSF’s Head of Operations, Rob Webber, said: “We are extremely grateful to Steve and the Heat Recruitment team for their generous donation. These devices will be distributed to those most in need of them throughout Greater Bristol and provide an opportunity to bridge the digital divide which has become increasingly apparent throughout the pandemic.”
About the Foundation’s Digital Inclusion Project: As part of our wider ‘Digital Transformation Project’ we are aware that there are families within our communities who do not have access to a device that supports our content. To address this, our digital inclusion offering works with the support of our corporate partners who donate devices that we prepare for community use, pre-loaded with the BSF app and web app. Using our extensive community network, we identify families in the most urgent need and donate the devices for use.
We cannot solve this issue overnight, but each donated device makes a real difference and is very much appreciated. Please contact Paul Glanville to find out how your organisation can make a donation to this important appeal and how we match every donation with clearly identified urgent need throughout Greater Bristol.
